Biography

BALOGUN BABATUNDE JOSEPH, also known as BLACK'O (O for Original), born in Lagos, Nigeria on the 2nd of Feb. 1997, is a singer, songwriter and record producer who uses his powerful nostalgic voice as one for the people of every race, gender and religion at large. Doing this by telling his own stories and perceptions, Black'O has been able to lay a foundation for the message of love, hope and power. With so much artistic instinct and curiosity, Joseph fell for the art of writing and performing music at the young age of 8, when he started to write and perform music in churches. In the year 2008, after spending much of his after school hours in studio with 'Rudy Omoibile' (who had a popular Nigerian hit titled "LONI"), Black'O started to work on more commercial music, thus, the evolution of BLVCK. In 2016, Black'O dropped his studies of Physics (Sci.) at the University Of Lagos, thereon, undergoing a 1year Vocal course at the MUSON Classical music school, Onikan, Lagos. In the subsequent year, on moving to Accra, Ghana, Black'O co-founded Sound Crazy Music Asylum, a DIY label and movement of musical intellects, with the sole aim of making good music and getting it heard. With the birth of SCMA, Black'O has made a few releases, published and being managed by Efya's One Nation Entertainment. Black'O, like many great pioneers has given a name to his kind of music which he describes as the new phase of the Afro-Evolution. He calls it... "The AFROKOMBO"
