Led by Eric Pauls and based in Calgary, Canada, Young Neighbours has been involved in various projects, including feature film scores and three LPs. Blending genres like Folk, Pop, Punk, and Ambient, Young Neighbours have crafted a unique sound. Their two most recent releases span the length of Eric's songwriting career. One of these, 'The Canoe Demos,' was recorded on a whim in Film school sound booth, before there was a 'Young Neighbours'. Eric Pauls produced songs as a way to learn Protools. Initially, these lo-fi recordings were merely the favourite tunes of classmates. However, on September 2023, renowned documentarian and former classmate Dan Olson featured the music in his Folding Ideas film "This is Financial Advice." With millions having heard these improvised demos and demanding they be made accessible on the internet, the 'Canoe Demos' received their official release on Oct 7, 2023. Following that, 'Forever a Slow Rebellion,' was released on Jan 5, 2024. Penned during the pandemic when an electric guitar and a loud amp offered a preferable alternative to screaming into a pillow. Eric wrote dozens of songs, each progressively louder and more dissonant than the last. With the help of Noah Michael, seven of these songs found a place on this record. In the last few weeks, it has seen strong support on College Radio across the country, and its music video content has connected with thousands of new fans around the world.
