Joel "Legit" Miller was born in Nassau, Bahamas, and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at age 7. In Fort Lauderdale, he developed a passion for the arts, starting with talent shows and writing songs for school programs. Joel's musical journey continued through middle and high school, participating in bands, talent shows, and other artistic activities. He wrote his first faith-based songs, "Jesus Loves Me," "King of Kings," and "Better Times," inspired by church experiences. After high school, Joel faced a choice between a military career and music. He chose music, attending Bethune Cookman College, where he performed in the marching band and appeared in the movie "Drumline." Eventually, he joined the Marines, where he found new guidance and deepened his faith. His stage name, Legit, emerged during a church talent show and has stuck ever since. Joel now aims to inspire and lead others, using his talents to bless and uplift generations .
