Biography

Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, rapper JL B. Hood, born Jason Varnes, got his start as one-third of B. Hood, a rap group sometimes known as Brotherhood, in which he was joined by his two brothers. JL released his first mixtape, Just Landed, in 2011, immediately catching the attention of both fans in his local hip-hop scene and more established rap artists. He was featured on Tech N9ne's 2011 single "Worldwide Choppers," still new into his career but trading scattershot verses with luminaries like Busta Rhymes, Twista, Yelawolf, and others. He continued to gain steam, releasing his Adderall mixtape and proper debut solo LP, Brain Scatter, in 2013 and touring in support of huge names as well as headlining his own shows. More collaborations and mixtape releases followed, including Brain Scatter 2 in 2014 and Symptoms in 2015. He eventually signed a deal with Strange Music, and in 2017 he released Tech N9ne Presents Dibkis on the label, a massively produced album with cameo appearances from Church Boi, Joey Cool, Tech N9ne, and many others. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
