J. Lorenzo, real name John Lorenzo Ruiz, was born in the Philippines. At the age of 8, he and his family immigrated to Montreal, Canada where he was introduced to and fell in love with Hip Hop. At 15 years old, he was a member of a rap group. He was the only one rapping in his native tongue (Tagalog) while other members rapped in English. After the group went their seperate ways, John went by the moniker 'King John', and continued as a solo artist. He then started writing in English and would release his first mixtape 'The English Chronicles' in 2014. Lorenzo released numerous freestyle videos on Facebook and on YouTube since then. In 2016, he released his second mixtape 'Everything happens for a reason' under the name J. Lorenzo.
