Hook$thaG.O.D. born Curtis J Hooks III came from a background of musicians. His father Curtis Hooks Jr. was a bass player who achieved a gold plaque as the bass player for the band Sun while signed to Capitol Records. On March 7th 1982, Hooks was born in Dayton, Ohio. Although Hooks was born in Ohio, he was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon where Hooks recorded and wrote his first song at the age of 16 and since then he continued to rap, record, write and perform music. Hooks falls in the Hip Hop lyricist genre. Therefore writing his own music is very important to the young hip hop artist. “I write whatever I feel at the time… I don’t go for what's in music…, I make soul music.” Hooks stated in reference to what his sound falls under. The competitive rapper strives for greatness as a lyricist and in life. At a young age Hooks realized that music is in his bloodline and that it’s a natural gift for him. Growing up seeing his father tour, appearing on popular music television show Soul Train and selling over 500,000 records in the early 80’s and accomplishing a lot early in his music career, inspired Hooks as an artist. He is consistently working on fresh releases and to compliment the future album releases. Look for Hooks$thaG.O.D. to present back to back releases for the future to come.
