asamisimasa was founded in 2001 by musicians who shared an interest for experimental music. Since then the enesmble has won two Spellemann Awards (2012, 2015) and premiered more than 80 new pieces and toured all over Europe, USA and Asia. asamisimasa has collaborated with a number of internationally renowned composers, such as Helmut Lachenmann, Alvin Lucier, Brian Ferneyhough, Aldo Clementi, Helmut Oehring, Mirela Ivičević, Klaus Lang, Joanna Bailie, and a long line of composers in the multi-media field, such as Simon Steen-Andersen, Øyvind Torvund, Annesley Black, Matthew Shlomowitz and Trond Reinholdtsen. The ensemble has performed at a number of venues and festivals; Berlin Philharmonie – Debüt im Deutschlandradio Kultur, WDR Köln, Darmstadt, ECLAT, Donaueschingen, Ultraschall, Ultima, Huddersfield, Rainy Days, Monday Evening Concerts LA, Other Minds Festival (San Francisco) Cutting Edge (London), Angelica and SPOR and many more. Their two first releases, with Simon Steen-Andersen (DK) and Øyvind Torvund (NO) was awarded the Spellemann Award in the contemporary category.
