Growing up in Harlem, NYC, where music was always bustling throughout the city, Dawn Gun developed a love for hip hop culture. At a young age, she picked up a pen and decided to write her first rhyme and she has been creating phenomenal lyrics ever since. As a teenager, she was uprooted to the west coast where she sharpened her skills as an MC. Later, Dawn began recording professionally while she simultaneously found her voice on the underground scenes of Los Angeles, where she was inducted into the Legendary Project Blowed all female collective, The (Sis)tem Crew. Dawn has grace stages all across the country and her flow has gained her respect from notable music legends as well. Her sharp edge and lady-like demeanor has made her an irresistible and valuable piece of the Hip-Hop puzzle. In 2012, the Puerto Rican MC partnered with her distributor, Donald “XL” Robertson, to create and her own record label, Pretty iLL Entertainment, where she created a lane for all independent female artists to have a voice in music and bring back a nurturing balance to the industry. She has successfully released several artist’s projects as well as her own catalog and stands proud on empowering women and leading her movement. Dawn Gun has been described as ‘The bridge between the [legendary] Rucker and Leimert Park’ and credited for “…helping [listeners] move consciously from, ‘Wow, another dope female rapper,’ to ‘Wow, another dope rapper.’” Period.
