97.Coast, born Ethan Smith is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer hailing from Philadelphia PA. Raised in households with a religious reverence for music he was exposed to a wide range of artists, sounds and genres which influenced his approach to creation. In 2014 under the pseudonym of IDL3, 97.Coast began to release some of his formative works on SoundCloud. Being self-taught, his creations were organic and unorthodox. The DNA of his eclectic sound was evidence of its origins of hip-hop, trap, neo-soul, alternative and R&B yet unique to itself. His initial songs received critical acclaim yet soon after his social media went dark. When asked about that period Coast states “I had to develop and find myself…my voice” This process of development lasted years and led him to create 6 albums and hundreds of songs residing in private vaults.
