Eduardo Gudin is a Brazilian composer, arranger and guitarist who navigates the border between popular and classical music. He is primarily recognized as a composer of sambas, with a very distinctive style. However, he is also a composer of songs, film soundtracks, and orchestral arrangements, with mastery of both popular and classical guitar. Beyond his role as a melodist, Gudin is also a skilled lyricist, and has composed songs with numerous renowned partners such as Paulinho da Viola, Paulo Vanzolini, Paulo César Pinheiro, Carlos Lyra, Adoniran Barbosa, Arrigo Barnabé, Aldir Blanc, Ivan Lins, Roberto Riberti, J.C. Costa Netto, Francis Hime, Carlinhos Vergueiro, Toquinho, Caetano Veloso, Elton Medeiros, Nelson Cavaquinho, among others. Additionally, he is active as an orchestrator, teacher, and cultural producer. Gudin’s compositions have been recorded by esteemed artists including Dick Farney, João Nogueira, Márcia, Paulinho Nogueira, Paulo César Pinheiro, Quarteto em Cy, Paulinho da Viola, Elizeth Cardoso, Jair Rodrigues, Beth Carvalho, Gal Costa, Clara Nunes, MPB-4, Leila Pinheiro, Renato Braz, among others. In 2024, Gudin marks 58 years in his career, boasting 1 DVD and 18 albums in his discography, including "Eduardo Gudin e Noticias dum Brasil 4", which earned a nomination for the 2016 Latin Grammy in the Best Samba Album category.
