Lakei Daze, originally from Dallas, Texas, discovered her passion for singing at the tender age of 5. Gifted with a karaoke machine by her parents one Christmas, she found her voice by recording herself and experimenting with various songs to hit different notes. As she grew, Lakei ventured into writing her own music, looping beats, and recording herself. In 2011, she crossed paths with recording engineer David Johnson, who helped her transition into professional studio recording. The following year, David introduced Lakei to producer Alpha Davis, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. Lakei provided background vocals, harmonies, and hooks for artists Alpha was working closely with, like Hnny & Enem and the late great Scorcese. In 2017, Lakei debuted her single "Holding Aces" under the alias Lakei Day, produced by Ish D. The song, blending a house vibe with Lakei's 90s-influenced voice, became an instant local hit. In 2020, Lakei released "Maybe I Do," produced by Derrick Castile, followed by her debut EP "Remain" in 2021, mainly produced by Alpha Davis & Chris Wright. The EP highlighted Lakei's mesmerizing vocals, remarkable writing skills, and profound love for R&B music. Now, Lakei returns with her latest single, "Moments," produced by Alpha Davis & Chris Wright. Still exuding her nostalgic charm, Lakei now presents herself in her mature, sophisticated era, unveiling a fresh look and sound.
