Born and raised in Germany, the Ghanaian artist Abenaa began her artistic journey in childhood through dance and theater. Music was omnipresent at home, and she found inspiration and belonging especially in pop and hip-hop culture, which shaped her. Abenaa lives by the credo "The art should reflect our times." She completed her studies in political science before fully devoting herself to her artistic endeavors again. Today, she precisely combines social criticism with danceable beats. With a pop scholarship from the Popbüro Stuttgart and performances on stages like the Fempalais at the Stadtpalais Stuttgart and the PxP Festival in Berlin, she has already reached significant milestones. However, she always looks forward, ready for new challenges and opportunities to spread her message further. In June, she will be seen at the Littmann Sessions at the Stuttgart Opera. Her music is a celebration of apparent contradictions, a call to celebrate life, and at the same time, an appeal for change. She firmly believes that Black people, especially women, can have a voice - intelligent, expressive, and sexy. Skillfully weaving elements of Afropop and rap with profound lyrics and powerful performances the newcomer is already making her unique mark in the musical landscape.
