Toine Thys is bold and reckless musician, a central figure for saxophone and bass clarinet in Europe. In his projects, he is relentlessly stepping out of his comfort zone, jumping into new musical and human adventures. He can be heard in Europe, as well in Western Africa, and elsewhere. Toine Thys has produced three new records in 2021, in a wide range of 'styles': GURU.FARM (known before as DERvISH). is based in Belgium, With with bassist Dries Laheye (Stuff.), David Thomare on keys, and drummer Pat Dorcean or Stijn Cools, they play a homegrown glossy- electroJazz, spacy and twisted. Transformed by electronics, the saxophone of Toine Thys becomes synth and joins the rhythm section. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jazz Magazine His all star cross-over group OVERSEAS is around his collaboration wih with egyptian oud player Ihab Radwan. They first album "Tamam Morning" got internationally aclaimed. « This is music with a life force » ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Songlines Simultaneously he released ORLANDO, a french-belgian jazz quartet ( 🏆 Octaves de la Musique 2021 - Jazz), together with drummer Antoine Pierre, bassist Florent Nisse and pianist Maxime Sanchez.
