Biography

Multi-award winning Icelandic performance art collective HATARI is renowned in the field of dystopian music performance. HATARI was founded in 2015 to obliterate the capitalist world order by way of sponsorship with SVIKAMYLLA EHF, their publisher. HATARI has become known for their unique blend of industrial, techno, punk and pop music. The core of the group consists of “The Popstar” Klemens Hannigan (vocalist & producer), “The Gimp” Einar Stef (drummer & producer), & Davíð Þór Katrínarson aka “Svarti Laxness” aka “Big D” (vocalist). Hatari gained international attention when they represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Hatrið mun sigra," delivering a provocative and theatrical performance. The band's aesthetic incorporates dystopian themes, elaborate costumes, and a satirical commentary on politics and society. Hatari continues to push boundaries in the music industry, captivating audiences with their experimental sound and thought-provoking performances. To meet the high demand for the group’s music releases and subsequent merchandise, HATARI are currently preparing their second full-length album due for release in 2025 if the world does not cease to exist before then.
