Biography

Born in San Francisco, CA, and raised in Oakland, CA, to a family of musicians, artists, dancers, and theater nerds on both of her parent’s sides, Gabby Rose picked up the gift of art, writing her lyrics at the age of 8, while in the 3rd grade. At age 9, Gabby recorded in a booth for the first time and by 10 was performing her original gospel material in front of hundreds of people under the stage name “Nique.”  Raised in the 90s’, Gabby’s talent was cultivated by some of today’s legends like Brandy, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Mya, and TLC. Around age 17, Gabby felt her calling was something different, more raw, real emotions, so after her first heartbreak, fresh out of high school, she decided to make it her mission to tell the good & bad sides of love through her music. With a new sound and fearless writing style, Gabby has dove headfirst into all topics of R&B. As an adult, she goes by Gabby Rose, a persona created by her complex personality and edgy, sometimes trap R&B style.  In 2018, she dropped her debut album, “Rosé,” a classic piece of R&B/Soul art, which gives you a glimpse into who she is and where she comes from.  It also highlights the ups and downs of relationships and how one overcomes the setback of a heartbreak. The project was well received by local radio stations and audiences.  On July 12, 2024, independently, she released Rose Colored Glasses - The Double Album. - Karleen Griffin
