Just W’s musical journey started at the age of 7 in the form of poetry and playing violin. As time went by, the poems evolved into rap, the violin turned into a guitar and the young artist discovered he had a knack for singing. However, it was not until the age of 16, that he recorded his first song “ Mas que Amigos” under the stage name Angelito. As an adult, the singer would go on to rebrand himself as “Volcan”, a name derived by a childhood nickname given to him by his mother. Armed with a new name, the singer-songwriter wasted no time and released the song “ Lo que sentimos”. A song which got him the attention of local promoter MC IVO and eventually led him to be featured in an article by “Montreal Hispano”. This collaboration with MC IVO would allow the artist to perform in more clubs and eventually the talent show “La Voix du Succès” . The same year he would also perform at Montreal’s Cuban Festival. Having seen the ins and outs of Montreal’s latin scene and with the desire to have a more “international career”, in 2018, the singer-songwriter decided to concentrate on making music in english, and adopted the moniker Just W to release the single “ Popstar”. By taking the best parts of his own cultural mix of Ivorian, Haitian and Cuban origins, Just W seeks to “blend” R&B vocals with an Afro-Caribbean feel to create a truly unique sound.
