Biography

Gerhard Trede was born January 17, 1917 in Hamburg and died September 30, 1996 in Hamburg. He was a composer, arranger and conductor. Gerhard Trede skillfully composed the entire music for the German Wochenschauen (weekly cinema newsreels) of the 50s and 60s. Everyone in Germany knew his fast-paced sports themes, his serious music for political segments and state visits, as well as his whimsical big band recordings for children and everyday life. Luckily, a majority of these old recordings were saved. Mainly released via Selected Sounds Song Library and other outlets. His music is used in uncountable TV series like Spongebob, for talkshows like Conan O´Brian as well as for video games and several Hollywood movies.
