Born in Costa Rica & raised in Alabama, RicoRizzy has always been influenced by a wide variety of music. His father has always been an avid lover of music who had a huge range of genres in his repertoire including but not limited to: rock, reggaeton, classic ballads, country, Italian romance, hip hop, punk, electrónica, pop, Spanish Romance, R&B, German techno, etc. So safe to say, musical diversity was imposed on RicoRizzy from a very young age. (Alongside taking 6 years of piano lessons, choir in school, musical theater and as many creative projects he could be a part of.) Growing up in Birmingham, AL, meant a lot of exposure to southern music (country, rap, R&B, trap) which definitely influenced his sound, however, it was further developed once he moved back to Costa Rica at age of 14. RicoRizzy started as an electronic music producer. After hearing “First of The Year” from Skrillex for the first time in 2011, he immediately fell in love with dubstep and decided to become a producer. He first dabbled in various EDM genres such as dubstep, big room house, trap, moombahton and future bass, before later focusing on more vocal centric genres such as hip hop, R&B, reggaeton, trap, and more. Now in 2024 he’s worked with some of Costa Rica’s top artists and musical exports.
