Composer Ejnar Kanding is known for seeking possibilities within a wide range of musical expressions, from the physically expansive to the emotionally stagnant or melancholic. His uniquely colourful music unites electronic and acoustic sounds into complex textures, physical energy, and delicate simplicity. Like a hall of mirrors, his music is a journey into the ambiguous. A sensuous voyage to the unknown areas of the inner life. Kanding has specialized in composing music for computer and instruments. This has led to extensive use of the software MaxMSP. The musical expression form and phrase are in focus, often with electronic sound as a counterpoint. He is the artistic director of the ensemble Contemporánea – Live Electronics Denmark. Kanding has received the Danish Arts Foundation’s three-year stipend and numerous work grants and composition commissions. Kanding’s music has been appreciated in concerts for example at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, and has been selected for prominent festivals such as International Computer Music Conference, International Society for Contemporary Music, Festival Synthése, Nordic Music Days, Up North, Interactive Arts Performances Series at New York University, Concordia Festival (Bulgaria), and MAGMA (Berlin). Ejnar Kanding was born in 1965 and studied composition and music theory at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen (1986-96), and in Jerusalem in 1994/95.
