Joseph Schiano di Lombo is a musician, visual artist and writer born in 1991 in Chambéry. He lives and works in Pantin, France. An album of music for dogs (Musique de niche, 2021), a detective story without a plot published by Éditions B42 (L’Oxymore, 2021), an exhibition created four hands with a deceased Dadaist (« Musique pour Arp », project space by David Giroire, 2019): the multidisciplinary practice of Joseph Schiano di Lombo is above all an art of playing, not only with musical instruments, but also with words, rules and codes to question our relationship to art, its history and its forms. Between farce and seriousness, references and intuitions, grotesque and minimalism, popular and academic culture, he slides freely from one category and medium to another, deploying an art similar to the fugue, that musical form where a network of independent voices creates a harmony. Through these displacements, he attempts to reconsider the dominant modes of thought and creation, established on a cumbersome opposition of opposites: the artist and his public, art and life, nature and culture, human and animal... This work of co-creation with reality, in the manner of an intuitive and spiritual archeology, awakens and reveals infinite possibilities of being.
