Shobhit Banwait is a Canadian-born tabla musician of Indian descent. He gained worldwide attention when he combined tabla with popular radio hits on his Instagram page - @shobhitbanwait. From there, he started recording full covers that have been recognized by award-winning artists such as Australian singer, Sia, who tweeted Shobhit's cover of her song, Cheap Thrills (feat. Sean Paul), stating she "loved it!" Since Facebook didn't have licensing agreements with any global music corporations like Universal Music Group (UMG) or Sony Music Entertainment (SME) at the time, Shobhit had most of his viral videos taken down due to copyright issues. However, many of these projects still remain on his YouTube Channel. 
 In late 2016, Shobhit connected with fellow Canadian desi artist, J. Ashar, and collaborated on a cover project. They remained close for years, and in early 2018, they started their very own label, Pug Life Records®, an artist collective dedicated to empowering South Asian artists worldwide with their #BrownBrotherhood movement. Within 6-months of starting their label, they teamed up with Artist Originals (AO) and released an official tabla remix for Lost Stories' "Faking It (Tabla Remix) - Single." This was Shobhit's first song released on all music streaming platforms. 
 Shobhit continues releasing tabla covers on a weekly basis on his Instagram page has been in the studio recording more collaborations for original music.
