SONIMUN lives and works as an author, DJ and producer in Cologne. The long-time technology author of GROOVE is both protagonist and chronicler. In fact, he belongs to that generation of electronic musicians from the cathedral city who sharpened a personal attitude to music in the then, colorfully mixed scene of visual artists and the controversial authors of Spex, in which the discourse, the context sensitivity and the claim of a conceptual coherence in artistic expression, had a significantly higher priority than the modern race for social media reach, DJ chart ranking or publicity-increasing bookings. Accordingly, the tracks from 'SONIMUN' always have at least a second, conceptually conceived level that determines both the form and the sound: This programmatic inspiration can come from everyday reality and, for example, the emotional and musical confrontation with the phenomenon "Raststätte“ (german roadside restaurants) - a place where two completely opposite sensibilities meet, namely movement and rest at the same time. Or from the technology itself, for example, when he is interested in exploring the tonal possibilities of a single historical synthesizer, device or a form of synthesis in reflective consideration. Sometimes, however, he is driven by a special mood, such as in the very personal “The Future We Never Had” - a piece in which the musician tries to recreate the optimistic visions of the future of his childhood.
