Her work transcends boundaries—physical, ideological, state, and national. Her choice of genre depends on her current spiritual state, the emotion of the song, or the availability of a producer. Sassja hails from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, making her the first significant female rapper in the country. She unintentionally became a female performer, MC, and voice, when all she ever wanted was to write and express herself through lyrics and music. She describes herself as a punker of rap, a claim she justifies through her live performances, which, despite being DJ-backed, carry the raw energy of punk and constant movement. She first emerged with reggae and is one of the most notable raggamuffin MCs in the region. She has won awards, toured cities and festivals, collaborated with various artists, and inspired and empowered many. In 2009, she uploaded her first song online. She writes all her lyrics and contributes to some of the music and arrangements. She has released one demo album, three full-length albums, and over 30 solo singles and collaborations. After a five-year break from live performances, she returned in 2024 with her album Chwakka.
