Biography

Saraf Ali, also known as Saraf Ali Bhat, who hails from a small town in Pulwama, has won the Global Readers' Choice Award 2020 for a book titled Triggered Sorrows about a student's experience of living away from his family. Saraf Ali is a 21-year-old engineering student from Kadabal locality, Pampore town in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Amid theadverse conditions of the valley for the past one year, he used all his energy and talent to write. He has compiled two books-- Triggered Sorrows and A Smile Worth a Billion Poems-- one of which fetched him the Global Readers Award for 2020. His book, Triggered Sorrows was given an award by Global Reader's Choice in the self-help category. Saraf Ali was recognised by the Indian Book of Records in May 2020. Triggered Sorrows is a book by Saraf Ali Bhat about a typical student from a small town Pampore , Kashmir leaving home for studies with all the elements that remind us of other students out of home. With conditions growing more worse, most of the parents from the valley prefer to have their children out of state so they could study uninterruptedly. We see same happening with Saraf, who in his book highlights many of the problems students face when they are out of home, by his own real life experience. The sharpness of the characters of the book remind us of someone similar we all have seen in our lives. It’s a nostalgic ride into his journey full of sorrows.
