Biography

With raw, street-savvy lyricism and a raspy New Orleans accent, Allie Baby has certainly developed a sound that is uniquely her own. She got her start in two hip-hop groups: Black Iyce, which was modeled under the direction of Dj Wild Wayne, and Gs Up, which was founded by Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy. She got comfortable out on the road as they opened up in 20 cities for G Unit, the 504 Boyz, B2K, Nas, Camron, and other mainstream acts. Mannie Fresh recognized her talent and signed her to Chubby Boy Records/Def Jam from 2006-2008. Then, a chance encounter in a Memphis studio, led to Drumma Boy producing Allie Baby’s breakout single “Yay.” Allie Baby was signed to Drumma Boy Records from 2009-2014. Allie’s efforts and stage presence continued to draw notice, leading to a role in the feature film Must Be the Music (2013), a nomination at the 2012 Southern Entertainment Awards, and features in the Swedish magazine Sonic. In 2014, Complex included her in their list of “Top 10 New Orleans Rappers You Should Know,” while her music received placement in Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots. The following year, Allie performed at SXSW and the Congo Stage at New Orleans’ Jazz & Heritage Festival – which earned her accolades in The New Orleans Advocate. That year, she released a new mixtape, Wifey, which landed on U.K. hip-hop charts. Currently, Allie continues to write, record, and perform, and recently released two new singles, “No Feelings” and the fiery "Best Believe."
