In the Spring of 2018, singer, songwriter, producer, and Strange Main (the pop music division of Strange Music) flagship artist Mackenzie Nicole unveiled her full-length debut album, The Edge, to critical acclaim. Its songs tallied over 1 million Spotify streams, and her videos totaled 8 million-plus views as she played to sold-out crowds on Tech N9ne's Planet Tour coast-to-coast. Meanwhile, tastemakers such as Billboard professed, "The Edge embraces Mackenzie's self-professed description as someone whose fearlessness ‘takes everything as far as possible.'" After nearly a decade of diligently grinding, the year marked a much deserved and significant artistic breakthrough for the then 18-year-old. On a deeper level, she suffered a mental breakdown and fell into thoughts of suicide. Through a combination of self-actualization and therapy, she returned stronger than ever before. Now, she shares this struggle and subsequent victory by way of her second full-length album Mystic. Persevering from this turbulence, she dove right into crafting her next musical statement. This time around, she opted to pen every lyric herself, keeping the songwriting in-house for the first time. Once again, she also assumed the role of Co-Executive Producer alongside label C.E.O. Travis O’Guin. As a result, the release of her standalone single “Complications” and her sophomore full-length album Mystic represent her unfiltered vision through and through. Welcome to The House above the World.
