Originally from White Plains, New York enigmatic rapper King James III was introduced to hip-hop at nine years old. That same year, he also learned to rap. He went on to carve a lane for himself in high school when he released mixtapes exploring his sound. Years later, he finally hit a creative stride when he began taking the business more seriously. 2018 would prove to be a pivotal year for his artistry as he revealed Alta Moda, an EP showcasing his hard-hitting vocal prowess. In 2019, he dropped a few loosies and also released GHOSTS, an EP led by “Top Villain,” a profound, lyrically driven track. Following this release, in 2020, he dropped Bloom with producer Primes. Supplanter, an additional project came next. This three-track EP, which is his strongest release yet, paid tribute to the connections and unique vibes between his father, his grandfather and himself. When describing his music, he says it’s “[Very] New York in the sense of the approach.” He adds that he believes his version of hip-hop has a modern flair. The contexts of my songs and remaining true to myself is what makes me unique in this day and age where it’s hard to find what’s authentic.” ~Robyn Mowatt
