Born in Hattiesburg, MS and hailing from her hometown of Clinton, MS, Chaela is a melodic rapper who showcases a versatile sound that incorporates both rhythmic intricacy and melodious layers as she breaks the barrier of the traditional definitions of what it means to be a singer versus a rapper. Her ability to smoothly slither between singing and rap all while being lyrically sound and providing substance for her audience truly makes Chaela a stand out act in her own right. She gives a lot of this credit to some of the Major Artists who she’s gained inspiration from over the years like Young Thug, Future, Lil Keed, Lil Durk, and producers like Metro Boomin and Kaytranada. Chaela tells us, “If I ever get the question like, ‘What’s my sound?’, I just tell people it’s just a mixture of my personality, the aspects of my favorite artists’ music that make them my favorite artist, and every experience I’ve had. A lot of people when they first hear me think of Atlanta rap but that’s just cause I gained so much knowledge and inspiration from some of they top dogs, foreal.” She goes on to say, “But if you ask me my sound is Atlanta. It’s Houston. It’s LA. And, of course it’s most definitely Clinton/J-town, MS. This is worldwide music. I’m more focused on pushing the boundaries!” - Chaela has been relatively quiet over the past year as she shares that she recently dealt with a death in the family and some recent life-altering changes, but she assures us new music is on the way!
