Biography

"Our new post-punk/avant-garde hero..." - Sound & Vision "Jackson VanHorn fits into the range of names that, despite being new, have a creative flair beyond considerable..." - Class of Sounds "Channeling Nick Cave, Richard Hawley, Peter Murphy, and Jarvis Cocker..." - Post-punk.com After the dissolution of previous band TV Ghost (In The Red Records) and his contributions to several other projects, Jackson VanHorn's musical craft came into its own on the debut full length, After The Rehearsal and sophomore release, A Silent Understanding. The Indianapolis based musician often merges literary and cinematic influences with philosophical attentiveness, drawing lyrical inspiration from not only the world around him but also from film, literature, and visual arts. Musically, VanHorn channels an array of influences; ranging from singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, post-punk outfits Joy Division and The Sound, shoegaze pioneers Slowdive, and legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
