“Aboh Lawrence Ajibo“ (April 24, 2000) known professionally as VASTO, is a Amsterdam-based Nigerian singer and Songwriter. Vasto was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. His family hails from the Benue State, but relocated to Lagos early in their lives. Growing up Vasto got inspired by the musical taste of his dad, who played a lot of music in the morning before heading off to work. Jamaican roots reggae, heavy afrobeat, and the sweet Highlife melody’s from Nigeria & Ghana were amongst the sounds that formed Vasto’s musical backbone in his early years. Attending the church choir from an early age Vasto learned to sing gospel and the art of singing, dancing an playing music altogether. At the age of 13 Vasto started to climb onto the stages at carnival celebrations and street shows to showcase the crowds what he had to offer. A friend of his uncle noticed VASTO’s drive and ambition and invited him to a studio. He encouraged him to sing his own songs and from that moment on Vasto found his love for writing and creating songs. Vasto has spent the past two years in Amsterdam, which he now considers his home. Through mutual friends he met dutch producer JO BISSA, with whom he is writing his first Album. Vasto is here to make a contribution to the Afro sound and share his melodies with the world.
