Biography

Layton Hosford, singer/songwriter from Tallahassee, FL. Growing up with a musician father, his earliest experiences were of stages. Though an athlete in school, it was music Hosford loved. He purchased his first guitar, an Alvarez acoustic, from Ray Wiley, a local guitar shop owner, teacher & Layton’s mentor. This guitar was an outlet for his lyrics & one he still plays today.
After school, Layton enlisted in the US Army & deployed to Afghanistan. His time of service provides a lot of inspiration for his songwriting.
Humble with gratitude, Hosford attributes his passion for music to growing up with the art. “The stories I’ve heard, seen & lived being around a group of band members is like listening to military guys telling old war stories.” As the son of Tom & The Cats’ lead vocalist & guitarist, “Coach” Dickie Hosford, Layton speaks fondly of his memories with north Florida’s most successful party band.
The range of styles in Hosford’s music, from classic country to blues, soulful rock & lyrical rap is full of his hometown flavor & artistry. @SouthofTallahassee a tribute to the coastal county of Wakulla, FL where @Jordanmillersounds, recording artist, friend & musical partner, calls home, was the latest release the two produced. This country rap genre breaks through in small ways in Layton’s writing. But the influences ‘90’s storytelling country are apparent in his 2 upcoming releases, also produced by Miller, @WhenIGetAholdOfYou and @LittleDidYouKnow
