Biography

"I love to put everything into my music!" No sentence characterizes Rebekka Bakken more than this. Anyone who had the chance to experience a concert with her knows how true this is: When the show begins, the concert hall is transformed into an energetic place. Rebekka Bakken grew up in a small town near Oslo. As a child she learns the violin and the piano, later she turns to singing and tours the club scene in Oslo. She moves to New York, plays with famous musicians and takes all that into her first solo album. "The Art of How to Fall“ shows an uprising charismatic singer-songwriter. Critics are enthusiastic about "Is That You?", "I Keep My Cool", "Morning Hours", "September" and "Little Drop of Poison“. Rebekka Bakken receives the highest music awards in Austria and Germany. After New York and Vienna she now lives in Oslo, with husband, son and royal poodle Miriam. "Things You Leave Behind“ shows a new Bakken-sound: personal, powerful, with a good sense of humor. "Winter Nights" presents some Christmas carols and own compositions like the goose bumps hymn "Wonder in Your Eyes". On her upcoming album “Always On My Mind” Rebekka Bakken reinvents her favourite songs with the sound of atmospheric Scandinavian Pop and Jazz. She adopts classics such as “Yesterday” , “Here Comes The Flood” or “Why”. “These songs have ‘always been on my mind’ and inspired my own songwriting. They are the ‘soundtrack of my life’ and some of them have stuck with me since my childhood”.
