Rooted in Brixton’s live scene as a poet and singer, Reeta was also front-person of Lo Freq, released on BBE with a cover of Radiohead's 'Blowout' alongside Meshell Ndegeocello, Mark Ronson, Sia, Cinematic Orchestra and Matthew Herbert in 2006. After five years of touring the band separated. As a producer, Reeta went on to develop her own style of London x South Asian Sounds, sampling ’60s and ’70s Bollywood vinyl that distorted perceptions of gender whilst DJing internationally. A selection of experimental works were released on debut EP ‘Ek’ in 2018 and playlisted by the BBC. 'Unki Yaad' a track from the EP was selected for physical release by Daytimers in 2020. A later body of work entitled ‘Remedy’ was released from 2021 centring single ‘Remedy’ with a range of dance remixes from producers including Jeia, Works of Intent and YourBoyKiran. Reeta wrote and toured a one-person show in 2022-23 named after the track, closing with a headline show at The Barbican, London. The show included poetry, songs and tracks, released and unreleased, building on the success of a TEDxLondon performance in 2021. A new album is in production in 2024.
