The Celloman project began in 2001 with the release of Aquador. Since then, a further six albums have been released on Jambila Records, the label owned by cellist Ivan ‘Celloman’ Hussey and his record producer brother, Paul. The most recent being a solo cello album that introduces a new style of cello playing entitled ‘Arpezzato Cello’. The Celloman project in both its electric and acoustic formats have performed extensively around the UK including at most of the big festivals such as Glastonbury and Womad. They have performed in Serbia, Abu Dhabi, Spain, Zanzibar and Singapore. In 2014 and 2016, cellist Ivan Hussey was invited to perform solo at the International Cello Festival, Beyond Cello, at Kings Place in London. Together the project has gained a fine reputation for both their releases and live shows with a sound that has proven to be quite unique. A blend of Middle Eastern and African rhythms, Eastern and Western classically inspired melodies, hypnotic harmonies and driving funky Bass & Drums. As a session cellist, Ivan has toured and played on over 300 albums with artists such as Mick Jagger, Soul II Soul, Incognito, Roots Manuva, Jay Z, The Lighthouse Family, Da Lata, Tom Jones, Duran Duran, Gabrielle, Natacha Atlas and Annie Lennox amongst others.
