Signe Lykke (b. 1984) is a danish composer and musician holding a masters degree in vocal studies from The Rhythmic Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen and a master degree in classical composition from Trinity Conservatoire of Music in London and College of Fine Arts in Austin, Texas. She is currently enrolled as an advanced postgraduate diploma student at The Royal Academy of Music in Århus, Denmark, with composition as her principal course of study. Her music is often described as a poetic blend of genres - a grey zone that lies between classical music and styles of music based in the Afro-American idiom. It is textural and explores the concept and perception of time and harmony. She has worked on several interdisciplinary projects among others the acclaimed score for the modern dance performance “Tro” by Uppercut Dance theater in Copenhagen. Current musical activities include a 60-min. piece for string quartet, a 15-min piece for award winning baroque ensemble Concerto Copenhagen, a film score and the vinyl release of her choir piece “Wetlands”.
