Lost Twin is Carlos R. Pinto, builder of soundscapes using the codes of hip-hop, layers of mysticism and psychedelia. He started producing as Neo for some of Spain's most relevant rappers in the early 2000s but in 2010, after relocating to Brighton, he released his first EP as Lost Twin, which landed him gigs at events such as Sónar, Tramlines, and Lapsus. On Saskatchewan Suite (2011) he continued exploring the area between psychedelia and hip-hop, hinting at what was to come on his first album Birds, which hit the streets in 2012. 2013 saw the release of Twin Talk, one of his most personal efforts. Almost simultaneously, he debuted with his band Spaced Out Family and put out production work on labels like Brownswood, Tru Thoughts, Galleta Records, and Spa.RK. The Mist came out in 2014, again to much critical acclaim, after which Lost Twin went on hiatus until late 2017, when he returned with Twin Talk, Vol. 2. A few months later, Carlos and Spaced Out Family were at the helm of one of the most singular albums in the history of Spanish hip-hop, Canarian MC Cálido Lehamo’s double Alegría de Vivir album (Ferlandina). Over the last few years his production work has been an integral part of releases such as C. Tangana's Avida Dollars, Erik Urano's Neovalladolor & Balaclava, and María José Llergo's Sanación, which he produced in its entirety - an album that has garnered critical acclaim and been shortlisted as one of the best releases of 2020 so far by NPR.
