Biography

Once described by a BBC radio producer as the “darker, more twisted cousin of Public Service Broadcasting”, The Gaslight Troubadours produce a hybrid cut n’paste sound of vintage beats with electro-swing tendencies. Played by, and being interviewed on BBC 6Music, receiving a 4-star review for their first album Clockwork Curiosities in MOJO magazine, appearing at numerous festivals including Latitude, Boomtown Fair, WOMAD and the Steampunk Yule Ball, and having recorded with Soft Cell legend Marc Almond and chap-hop hero Professor Elemental (The Nanty Narking EP (feat. Professor Elemental)), Professor Purblind took on solo production duties after the departure of Lon Lippincott. Their 2nd full player entitled Stranger Swings released on Halloween (31st October) 2018, featured the likes of Tom Robinson, Professor Elemental, Neal X , Rachael Roberts, and Fey Pink. Their 3rd album Curse Of The Gaslights was released on Halloween of 2021. It received strong BBC Radio 6Music support from the likes of Gideon Coe, Tom Robinson, Shaun Keaveny and Don Letts. It features guest appearances by Marc Almond (Soft Cell), Eliza Carthy, Lateef The Truthspeaker (DJ Shadow, Fatboy Slim, Latyrx, etc), Youth (Killing Joke, producer of The Verve's Urban Hymns, etc), Amina, Tom Robinson, Professor Elemental and many more.
