b. 1960, London, England. Although Feltham grew up in England his musical interests were decidedly American. Intent on a career in country music, he took up the harmonica, becoming highly proficient on the instrument. Founder and co-leader of Nine Below Zero, he became well known on the UK blues circuit. In the early 80s, Feltham joined blues rock guitarist Rory Gallagher’s band. For more than a decade he worked with Gallagher, touring and recording. Following Gallagher’s death in 1995, Feltham was again with Nine Below Zero, featuring former Gallagher sidemen bass player Gerry McAvoy and drummer Brendan O’Neill. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Feltham had become a much in-demand session player in the UK, working on numerous recording sessions for albums, films and television, activities that continued into the early 00s. He appeared in concert and/or on record with UK artists such as Marc Almond, Robbie McIntosh, Roger Chapman, the Christians, Deacon Blue, Manfred Mann, New Model Army, Oasis, and Italian singer Zucchero. Among Feltham’s film and television soundtrack work are Judge Dredd (1995) and The Mighty (1998). Feltham plays harmonica in many genres, especially blues and pop, but his comments in interviews suggest that he is at heart a country musician and in order to fulfil that aspect of his musical life he works in the USA. In the early 00s, he moved on from Nine Below Zero to lead his own occasional band with David Levy (bass) and Richard Newman (drums). With this group, Feltham came much closer to a country sound.
