Biography

Robin Fox is an internationally recognised AV artist, musician, composer working across live performance, exhibitions, public art and composition for dance and music. His laser works, which synchronise sound & visual electricity in hyper-amplified 3D space have been performed in over 60 cities worldwide. His latest Single Origin premiered at Unsound Krakow 2017 and has toured extensively in 2018-19 with highlights including headline shows at Berlin Atonal, Semibreve, Mutek (Montreal and Mexico), Sonica (Kings Place London) and more. His installation QUADRA commissioned by HOTA on the Gold Coast was at the GLOW festival 2018 and at Arts House Melbourne 2019. His ground- breaking work DIASPORA with Chamber Made premiered at Melbourne Festival in 2019 winning two Green Room Awards. Since 2008 he has composed music for over 25 contemporary dance works working with Australian choreographic luminaries Gideon Obarzanek, Lucy Guerin, Stephanie Lake and Antony Hamilton. His art/science sound work Interior Design: Music for the Bionic Ear was shortlisted for a Future Everything award in the UK 2011 and selected by the Paris Rostrum of Composers in 2012. He has released numerous sound works on labels across Europe, Australia and the US both solo and in collaboration with Oren Ambarchi, Clayton Thomas and Anthony Pateras. Fox wrote a Masters thesis on the history of experimental music in Melbourne 1975-9 and holds a PhD in electroacoustic composition from Monash University.
