Rob Carrick is a trombone player, songwriter and published author based in the Sydney suburb of Millers Point. Rob has always been interested in realising original compositions through collaboration via the Rob Carrick and Other Stellar Performers project. Rob writes songs that weave through a range of genres from jazz-rock through to pop, blues and prog-rock. For the recording sessions, Rob draws from a pool of artists and musicians including the great Matthew Hirst on drums, Tom Hubble on guitar, Richard McCullagh on guitar, Alistair Johnson on guitar, Chris Woodforde on saxophone, Paula Punch on vocals, Stuart Ziegler on guitar, Kendall Banfield on drums, Scott Myles on guitar, Jenny McCullagh (violinist from I Know Leopard), Tony Hunter on Electric Sitar and a host of other special guests. With the shift away from physical media towards music streaming, Rob has moved from albums to releasing singles, collaborating with musicians from across Sydney recorded in his ‘pop-up’ studio. Rob’s lyrics range from flights of pure fiction to musing on what it means to be an artist, however there is a recurring theme around life as a journey, which is the basis of many of his compositions. In between writing and recording, Rob plays live with inner-western Sydney based indie outfit VICTA accompanying Scott Myles, Mark Rath and Kendall Banfield on percussion and on Trombone. VICTA gigs feature Pete McAllister on vocals. Enjoy a slice of Rob Carrick’s Songwriter’s Pie!
