Biography

Recorder player Ronald Moelker has made concert tours and CDs as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles. In addition to works from the classical repertoire, he performs his own work for recorder and singing bowls and composes chamber music, and works for choir. He played at festivals and concert series in Aruba, Belgium, Germany, England, Crete, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. Ronald Moelker was laureate at the International Van Wassenaer Competition, first prize in 1986 with the Super Librum program 'From Improvisation to Composition' and third prize in 1987 as Soloist with the program 'Händel & Mr. Stanesby Senior' Ronald Moelker is a member of the Bassano Trio, a Dutch recorder ensemble founded as a quartet with Adriana Breukink in 2004 that focuses on developing and arranging new repertoire for recorder and pushing the dynamic boundaries of this ancient instrument. After the death of quartet member Adriana Breukink in October 2022, the ensemble continues as a trio and in collaboration with various instrumentalists. Members are Wolf Meyer, Ronald Moelker and Saskia Teunisse. With the quartet he obtained two CDs. 'Torres del Alma - Towers of the Soul' with highlights of Spanish Renaissance music, broadcast in 2010 at the St. Petersburg Early Music Festival. The second CD 'Eagles and Seven Tears', with guest player Daniël Brüggen, contains John Dowland's 7 Lachrimae Pavanes and new quartet arrangements for Eagle and Dream recorders.
