Biography

The Canadian violinist Frédéric Bednarz is active as a soloist and chamber musician. His wide range of repertoire and his sensitive and keen musicianship have been praised by critics."Powerful atmosphere, technically assured...Gorgeous tone drawing sustained sweetness" states The Strad, London., while the Kansas City Star writes, “a marvelous violinist and eminent chamber musician” . He was awarded the prestigious Prix d’Europe, and was a top winner at the Val Tidone International Competition in Italy. Bednarz's performances have taken him to Carnegie Hall in New York, Boston, the Chamber Music Society of Kansas City, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, France, Poland, Italy, China, Japan, Mexico and Costa Rica. As a soloist, he has played with l'Orchestre Métropolitain de Montreal, the Montreal Chamber Orchestra, the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra, La Sinfonia de Montréal, the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble America in New York, the Atlantic Symphony (MA). As a chamber musician, he collaborated with Anthony Marwood, Richard Lester, Julius Baker, Malcom Lowe, Alexandre Tharaud, and members of the Ying and Tokyo String Quartets. With the Molinari String Quartet (2007-2018), he premiered works by composers such as Ana Sokolovic, Samy Moussa, and Murray Schafer. His performances have been broadcasted on Radio-Canada/CBC, France Musique and NPR, and he has recorded for the XXI label, Albany Records, Atma Classique, and Metis Islands Records.
