Biography

Ntokozo “K.O” Mdluli was born in Soweto, Johannesburg. Influenced by Hip-Hop greats at a young age, he began to pursue a career in rap music. He soon formed the group “Teargas” who left behind a huge legacy in South African music with four classic albums. Having been launched into stardom, K.O. began to collaborate individually with legendary artists AKA and L-Tido. In 2013 he formed the well known entertainment and lifestyle company “Cashtime Life” through which he released his smash hit “Caracara” which is often credited with changing the sound of South African hip-hop. “Caracara” managed to top digital, radio and television charts regionally and became the first South African rap video to hit one million views on YouTube. K.O’s debut album “Skhanda Republic” which debuted at number one on the RSA charts and went platform soon after release, winning three SA Music Awards, saw him touring the African continent, the United Kingdom and the United States. His second album “SR2”, nominated in the SA Hip-Hop Awards, brought out a more personal side to his art, having been deemed “K.O’s most candid and personal body of work, showcasing the rarely seen vulnerability of an aspiring Black man in South Africa”. The album saw collaborations with global house legend Black Coffee, South African R&B sensation Shekhinah and Nigerian superstar Runtown. In 2019 K.O dropped his most recent album “PTY UNLTD” which went gold, featuring African music royalty such as Wizkid and DJ Maphorisa.
