Away We Go (Slowdance Remix)

Biography

The project slowdance is Bay Area native/UCLA student producer and DJ Donovan Blair’s passion. Donovan says, “‘slowdance’ is a reference to the intimacy felt while slow-dancing with a loved one, rather than a reference to the music itself.” Donovan’s first success was under the name Ambedo in 2017, when he released two remixes of Madison Beer’s “Dead” and “Home with You” that combined for 1.5 million streams. After this, Donovan decided to take some time to discover a new sound that he and his audience could connect with on a deeper level. A year later, Ambedo evolved into slowdance, a project with an intimate, deeply personal sound. slowdance’s inaugural release was a remix of Northern National’s Slow Down that now has over 300,000 cross-platform streams. slowdance’s second release, a remix of Lauv’s I’m so tired… was uploaded by Youtube super-channels Proximity and Chill Nation and has been streamed over 1.3 million times. Now with an overflowing library of unreleased originals, slowdance is preparing to release a volume of original records that legitimize a vision that is years in the making. Taking inspiration from artists such as Rüfüs Du Sol, Hayden James, and Golden Features combined with influence from House, Rock, Pop, and Funk, slowdance falls into an unexplored niche, but one that people are craving. Come 2020, slowdance will begin releasing originals that promise to surprise expectations of what dance music is, and show what dance music could be.
