Tambores En Benirras is the pseudonym of Graham Newby AKA DJ Gripper, The Tambores En Benirras project came about after a lengthy period of isolation during the lockdown of 2020 due to his long term diabetes. Gripper decided to focus on putting a collection of music together in the studio and taking a 'no rules apply' approach. The result was 9 tracks of electronic music with a downtempo vibe and a distinct and unique feel. Gripper had been in touch with NuNorthern Soul label boss, Phat Phil Cooper before the pandemic and so decided to send the music to someone he knew with good ears for some feedback. To his surprise Phil asked to release the music as an album on the highly respected Ibiza label, NuNorthern Soul. After a few suggestions on name changes, the project fell into place and made perfect sense and in September 2021 the first Tambores En Benirras album, 'Orbe Dotado' wass born. Since then, Gripper and the music of Tambores En Benirras have become a feature around Ibiza's balearic haunts of repute. Having been DJing since the late 80s, a long and varied DJ career has seen him play at clubs such as The Eclipse, Quadrant Park, KoKo, Gardening Club, 93 Feet East, Fabric, The Jazz Cafe, Rhino, Friends & Family, Precinct 13, Cafe Mambo, Savanah, Es Paradis, and many more. Gripper has also had tracks out on the likes of Grand Central, Fat City, Om Records, Bottom Line Records, OffWorld Sounds and more, and produced music for the likes of KRS One and Shaun Ryder
