Biography

First violin of Lyskamm Quartet and Principal Second at the Rotterdam Philharmonish Orkest, Cecilia Ziano was born in Ciriè (Turin) in 1991. She began playing at the age of four with Fabrizio Pavone at the Suzuki School and then continued her studies at the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo with D. Schwarzberg and A. Pinzaru. After graduating from Turin Conservatory with C. Anderson she continued to study with Salvatore Accardo and Bruno Giuranna at Accademia “W. Stauffer” and with Kolja Blacher in Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin. She collaborates as a leader with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Concertgebouw Orkest and Berliner Philharmoniker. The activity with Lyskamm Quartet, is also very successful. The Borletti - Buitoni chamber music prize in 2016 opens the quartet to an international career and in 2019 their first album dedicated to Bartòk's Quartets was released, first for the Italian classical music magazine “Amadeus” and then published by NovAntiqua Records. She is also very passionate about baroque and classic repertoire, playing regularly baroque violin. She teaches advanced violin course at Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo. Cecilia Ziano plays a Fiorini violin (Bologna ca. 1800) courtesy of the National Dutch Music Foundation. Waiting for Paganini marks her recording debut as a soloist.
