Karolis Šarkus (26) is a Lithuanian jazz saxophonist and composer, known for his eclectic portfolio and cross-genre musical ideas. Jazz critics and music experts name Karolis as an ambitious, technical and progressive saxophonist who is not afraid to explore beyond his comfort zone. He has studied in The Netherlands and United States and have performed in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia. Karolis Šarkus has won multiple international competitions, most recent being Big Band Composition Contest for Young Baltic Composers in 2022 and Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani in 2021. Among his own projects, Karolis is a steady member of 3 bands, co-leads Collaborative Jazz Septet, recorded albums with Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble, Brave Noises and many more.
