The Gerlo Hesselink quartet plays refined, contemporary jazz with lyrical touches. With this formation the debut CD 'Garden of Stones' was released in May 2013, which was received enthusiastic in the press and during the presentations: "A beautiful record, A record where good taste reigns" (Ton Ouwehand, 12-5-2013, http//www.overuit.nl/jazzfestival) "I feel that Gerlo Hesselink is a wonderful compositional improviser and his music reflects an interesting new direction. Gerlo's alto sound is inspiring to me. His music and playing is meant to reflect and move forward at the same time." (Dick Oatts, 10/28/2013) "I don't know anyone who can sing so beautifully ... on a saxophone" (Karen Vrjiburg, jazz vocalist)" This was followed by a number of performances in 2013-2014. After a period of rest, the quartet is performing again since September 2019, which led to a new album "Meant for You", a tribute to departed son Jan Hesselink, with guests Han Hesselink , Florieke De Geus and Chris Muller The quartet consists of Dirk Balthaus, Johan Plomp , Joost Kesselaar and Gerlo Hesselink See also Gerlo Hesselink
