Something You Oughta Know

Biography

Alabama-based guitar pop band/project Lolas formed in 1998 around vocalist/guitarist Tim Boykin (ex-Shame Idols), drummer Mark Reynolds (ex-Carnival Season), and bassist Walon Smith. They debuted with the Ballerina Breakout LP a year later, and followed it with Silver Dollar Sunday in 2001. Both critically acclaimed albums were issued through the indie Jam Records. Between albums the Lolas toured, spent some time in Japan, and recorded 2002's Doctor Apache for the Wizzard In Vinyl label in Japan. 2004 saw the release of Something You Oughta Know, again on the Jam label. 2006 saw a covers collection, with garage rock and R&B tunes. 2008 saw the release of Like The Sun, a best-of, including rare tracks. After a rather lengthy hiatus, Lolas returned in 2019 with A Dozen Or Seven Tapestries, hailed by critics as a strong return to form. Before 2019 was ended, Lolas released an even stronger release, Bulletproof, the title of which was was meant to convey a revolutionary optimism. Early in 2020, Lolas have released a single, Wrecking Yard, which is guaranteed to get stuck in your head.
