Higha Medz is a lyricist and beat maker raised in Kingston Jamaica and currently residing in Mattapan Massachusetts. He experiments in many styles and blurrs the line between genres in his music carrying on a tradition founded in the dancehall music he grew up on. Artists that influenced him as a writer are Sizzla, Pappa San, Bounty Killer, Spragga Benz, Professor Nuts, Super Cat, Buju Banton, Terror Fabulous, Capleton, Nas, Slick Rick, Biggie Smalls, Dead Prez, WU Tang, Da Lox, DMX, Canibus etc. Producers who influenced his work are Sly and Robbie, Lee Scratch Perry, Bobby Digital, Don Corleone, Pete Rock, Large Professor, DJ Premier, Salam Remi, Timberland, Pharrell, RZA, J-Dilla etc. He has been rocking shows and underground spots in and around Massachusetts for the past 7 years while teaching in the Public School System. He is an active advocate for Marijuana Rights especially the right to not be discriminated against at work! His first official Mixtape Higha Medz Vol1 was mostly self produced and is available now.
